Sommering's ring material is difficult to safely remove but can cause downstream complications when left in place. I demonstrate a method of splitting the anterior capsule to access the sommering's ring material for removal via irrigation and aspiration. This method preserves the capsular complex which can then be used to hold a three-piece intraocular lens without secondary fixation.
