OPERATION SIGHT VOLUNTEERS ARE CHANGING LIVES!
The ASCRS Foundation’s Operation Sight program is driven by the generosity of 709 volunteers, who are dedicated to donating charitable cataract surgery to an uninsured patient in desperate financial need.
Carmen sought our help as she could no longer see in her left eye. Operation Sight Volunteer, Dr. Pit Gills at St. Luke’s Cataract and Laser Institute provided charitable care for her, greatly improving her quality-of-life post-surgery.
“I can see clearly now and enjoy everything that [this surgery] makes it easier for me to do, such as cooking and taking long walks…Thank You. Dr. Pit Gills and your entire staff for the excellent eye care surgery you volunteered your expertise and dedication to care-giving.”
Operation Sight volunteers are changing lives like Carmen. Join our volunteer network alongside your peers and register to volunteer today! Email Rachel Goode, Program Manager at email@example.com for more information.

ASCRS FOUNDATION YOUNG EYE SURGEON INTERNATIONAL SERVICE GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT
The ASCRS Foundation Young Eye Surgeon International Service Grant affords the opportunity for recipients to participate in health care systems, including teaching institutions and community programs, in developing countries. Working with the ASCRS Foundation and its international partners, recipients develop an international volunteer plan that provides the opportunity for a young eye surgeon to learn first-hand the intricacies behind global eyecare efforts.
2021 ASCRS Foundation Young Eye Surgeon International Service Grantee, Ashiyana Nariani, MD is launching the Global Refractive Surgery Summit on March 20th which is partially supported by the grant. This event aims to address inequities in refractive eye health and surgical access and to engage the worldwide ophthalmic community in a discussion on global solutions to eradicating refractive error.
