During this instructional course, the panelists will use videos to discuss different medical and surgical alternatives to correct myopia through all stages of life. Some of the refractive procedures are not yet FDA approved in the US. Topics will include small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) as an alternative treatment of myopia during childhood. Clear lens exchange, phakic IOLs, challenges for performing intraocular surgery in high myopic eyes, including preventing refractive surprises, and how to decrease the chances of retinal complications will be covered. Also, we will address challenges for treating presbyopia in myopic patients with and without cataracts.
